Chinese New Year Celebrations

On Friday the 14th February our whole school had a parade to celebrate the ending of Chinese New Year.  We all dressed up in the colour red or in Chinese costume.  We paraded around the basketball courts with our Grade 5 buddies while Chinese drums and music played in the background.  Some of us wore the masks we had made in art while some of us wore our horse masks to celebrate this year being the Year of the Horse.  We also carried the lanterns our buddies had helped us make.  The grade 2 children sang a song they had learnt in Mandarin classes and Kyra recited a New Year poem.  The real surprise of the day was when the Chinese Lion came out!  He danced around the grades and some of us got to pat him.  It was an awesome day!
